Sharps Island Lighthouse
Sharps Island Lighthouse is situated at the mouth of the Choptank River, where the island was once located. In the early 1700s, Sharps Island was a 600-plus acre inhabited island used for agriculture. A hotel operated on the island in the early 1900s, but was later abandoned due to continued erosion. The island completely disappeared in the 1940s.
