Smith Island Crab Scraping

Smith Island waterman Jessie Brimer crab scraping in an area known to islanders as “North End Bottom” near the town of Ewell. Crab scraping involves pulling a toothless dredge through the grass beds where blue crabs are hiding as they go through the shedding process.
